PhD Students
AvailableWe are looking for highly motivated PhD students interested in computer vision, machine learning, and AI research. Candidates should have strong mathematical background and programming skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Strong programming skills in Python, PyTorch/JAX
- Solid mathematical foundation in linear algebra, statistics, and optimization
- Experience with machine learning and computer vision (preferred)
- Strong English communication skills

Application Process
Complete Online Application Form
First, complete our required Google Form with your basic information and research interests. This is mandatory for all applicants.
Prepare Application Materials
Gather all required documents including CV, transcripts, statement of purpose, and recommendation letters.
Upload Documents
Upload all required documents through the Google Form application system as specified in the form instructions.
Initial Review
Our faculty will review your application and academic background. Applications are reviewed every three months.
Interview
Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview (in-person or virtual).
Decision
Final admission decision will be communicated within 2-4 weeks after the interview.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often are applications reviewed?
Applications are reviewed every three months unless otherwise notified. We will contact selected candidates for interviews during these review periods.
Do I need to complete the Google Form?
Yes, completing our online application form is mandatory for all applicants. You cannot be considered without submitting this form first.
Should I apply for internship first?
We highly recommend applying to our lab's internship program or KAIST AI Research Internship (KAIRI) before formally joining our lab. This helps both parties assess fit.
What's the difference between lab application and KAIST admission?
Our lab application is for research position selection, while KAIST Graduate School admission is the official enrollment process. Both are required but separate.
Do I need prior research experience?
While research experience is preferred, it's not strictly required. We value strong motivation, technical skills, and willingness to learn.
Is financial support available?
Yes, we provide competitive stipends and research funding for PhD students, as well as conference travel support.
Can international students apply?
Absolutely! We welcome applications from international students and provide support for visa applications and settling in Korea.
